Methodology & Disclaimer

Risk shares are computed using an Annualized Impact Score (AIS) model: each category's annual event frequency is multiplied by an impact severity weight and location-based modifiers (population density, social vulnerability). Categories are then normalized to show their relative share of your total risk profile.

Data-backed categories use historical event counts from FEMA National Risk Index (v1.19.0, March 2023) and DOE EAGLE-I outage records (2014–2024). Derived categories are computed from related data using established correlations. Expert estimates use published research and historical frequency analysis — these are informed guesses, not predictions.

This tool provides general preparedness estimates for educational purposes only. It is not professional emergency management advice. The data may contain inaccuracies, may not reflect recent events, and county-level analysis cannot account for neighborhood-level conditions.
